The City of Dubbo is surrounded by several quaint, picturesque, rural villages – many of which lie in the heart of the district’s wheat, sheep and cropping country.
The villages located in the Dubbo Local Government Area include Toongi, Wongarbon, Ballimore, Eumungerie and Brocklehurst.
Toongi, located about 20 km south of Dubbo on the Obley Road, features a unique quilt shop, while Wongarbon on the Mitchell Highway east of Dubbo, is home to one of Australia’s best figurative sculptors.
If you drive out the Dunedoo Road towards Ballimore and Elong Elong, you’ll find a popular tomato producer, an organic farm and a pistachio nut plantation.
