National Conversation - Rural and Regional Focus

The Hon Tony Burke, Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is encouraging young Australians living in rural and regional areas to join the National Conversation and provide their input into the National Strategy for Young Australians. Read Minister Burke’s, blog on the AYF website.

You can also join a live web chat on Wednesday 28 October from 6-8pm* (AESDST) being hosted by the Reach Out program. Minister Burke will be participating in the web chat.

Learn to roll with StreetWise

Experience a world of kickflips, ollies and shuvits in the specialised two day Skateboarding program coming to Dubbo.

The StreetWise interactive sessions are led by some of Australia’s best freestyle sporting athletes and will be dropping in at Dubbo Skate Park from the 14th of November. For the first time a girls only session will be held.

Visit www.skateboardingaustralia.org.au or Dubbo City Council Civic Administration Building (Cnr of Darling and Church Sts, Dubbo) to pre-register for the clinics. It costs $10.00 for four hours of workshops over two days and places are limited.

All StreetWise participants will also receive 2009 membership with Skateboarding Australia, personal accident insurance coverage, Slam skateboarding magazine, mania magazine, StreetWise school ruler, lots of stickers and more.

NSW Government cadetship opportunities

The NSW Government is currently offering over 200 permanent and temporary jobs for young people.  

Successful applicants will earn while they learn in the NSW Public Sector Cadetship Program - JumpSTART NSW.  Positions are available across NSW in office or business administration, customer service, community services, IT and the environment.

Are you an aspiring designer?

NSW Youth Week is looking for aspiring young designers to help create the look for our website, posters and other promotional materials.

Designs can be for a poster, or a website, or just some ideas thrown down on paper. Entries should be funky, creative, and help spread the word about Youth Week. The winner will receive a $1000 cash prize, and have their work promote Youth Week in NSW through its posters and website.

Some young people involved with your Council may be interested in entering. Entry forms and more information, including terms and conditions of entry, can be found on the NSW Youth Week website, www.youthweek.nsw.gov.au
