Calling all young people in NSW

Wednesday, September 30, 2009

Are you looking to get involved in making decisions that affect young people? Or do you know someone that does?

The NSW Commission for Children and Young People is offering 12 young people an awesome opportunity to be on its 2010 Young People’s Reference Group (YPRG).

The YPRG is a great way to get involved, have a say, be heard, and have fun! It’s made up of 12 young people aged between 12 and 17 years. They come from all over NSW and have all different kinds of backgrounds and experiences. They help the Commission stay in touch with what’s going on in the world of young people.

To find out more about the YPRG  and how to apply, go to www.kids.nsw.gov.au. While you are there, you may wish to subscribe to our online news bulletin for young people. Go the kidZone section and click on Feedback Mag for more.

Applications close 6 November 2009.

Apply now!

If you’ve got any questions, call Zeah Behrend on (02) 9286 7224 or email kids@kids.nsw.gov.au.

Indent 10th birthday - Tour proposal

Friday, September 18, 2009

Indent is in the proposal/planning/fund seeking phase of our 10th birthday celebrations (for next year). The idea they are rolling with is to supplement the 'Save the Scene' regional forums with a tour by an established touring act. So they would bring a band to a town in your region, do an Indent workshop (probably featuring the band) and then have a gig afterwards with young bands from the local area playing the support slots. We would promote the whole thing as a regional tour for the band, seek media partners, and try to make the shows as big as possible.

The list of artists they are looking at currently is:

  • Regular John
  • Bluejuice
  • Philadelphia Grand Jury
  • Josh Pyke
  • Tom Ugly
  • The Last Kinection
  • Urthboy
  • Holly Throsby
  • Sarah Blasko

You can help out by answering the three following questions:

  1. Which of these bands would you like to see in Dubbo? Any other suggested bands must be from NSW.
  2. Where would be a suitable venue? Ideally we are looking for something around the 500-800 capacity mark, but a bit bigger or smaller is fine too.
  3. What would you pay for this type of event in Dubbo? Bearing in mind this will be a Triple J-played artist.
