Dubbo has a new Youth Development Officer

    Monday, August 02, 2010

Meet the new Youth Development Officer, Jason Yelverton. He brings to the position a stack of passion for the role based on his own experiences and a vision for the future. The former Uniting Care Burnside group worker is a father of two and believes in nurturing and mentoring young people to ensure they have the confidence and ability to reach their full potential.

In his previous role, Jason was responsible for organising group get-togethers for families and was the coordinator of the Dads for Kids festival. Jason hopes to build on that experience by getting the various agencies working together, parents more involved and activities for all young people, not just those at risk. If you have any ideas for future get togethers or activies, let Jason know by sending an email.

    Young Adults Leadership Day

    Tuesday, July 06, 2010

You're invited spend an afternoon to develop your leadership potential, think over those important questions that usually get put aside for more urgent things and connect with other young people who are facing the same questions in different contexts.

Issues you might be working with..

    • I’m involved in a complex situation – there are no easy answers. What is the next step in moving my project forward?
    • How can I discover what I should be doing?
    • I’m loving my work/current projects and want to become even more effective in what I'm doing!
    • I’m skeptical of the idea of leadership…
    • I feel as though I am boxed in… I want to do something using my whole person…
    • I’m not sure how to talk about passion or vision…
    • I get bogged down in all the demands and am not sure what to do to prevent burnout!

    When: 17 July 2010
    Where: 1pm - 8pm @ Midnite Cafe
